Many times the term consultancy has been misunderstood. Many consultants who then renamed themselves coaches appeared on the market, changing in reality the true meaning of the activity and unfortunately bringing damage to this activity.
At one point I had the impression that there were no more employees, they had all become consultants. 🙂
In reality, a business development consultant actually means a professional “eye”, not emotionally involved, with a simple and clear task: to make all the internal processes of the company more efficient, on all its levels.
Clear experience in business areas where multiple processes are involved. For example, a multinational. If he/she has spent at least 5 years in a leadership position in a multinational (obviously with results!), will probably know how to lead you on the right path and to the highest heights. Often you need a breath of fresh air, an innovative idea, an unlocking formula, especially when you are very involved in the company's processes. A consultant is the best solution for you, even if it is for a minimum period of time of 3 months. Working with a consultant gives you fabulous insights into what you can improve, and all with a small investment compared to what you'll get!
Prepare for 1-2 weeks in which to speak with your consultant. For a proper analysis you will need to allocate up to 2 hours a day to talk with him and for him to assimilate everything he needs to then offer you personalized solutions.
The consultant will spend a certain number of hours per week, either in your company or remotely, talking with your employees, creating work procedures, following step by step the set objectives, following all human objections or obstacles that arise or with the potential to emerge, will innovate as appropriate so that the target is met.
After compiling the information, the consultant will need 1-2 weeks to analyze, think, test and present the customized solutions to your company's needs. These will be presented to you in several modules, depending on the number of departments you want improved.
After a minimum period of one month, you will analyze the activity together with the consultant, you will follow together the results obtained, their calibration on the proposed objectives as well as other new or improved objectives. You will set the action steps for the next period. The analyzes will be carried out optimally, monthly.
Along with the presentation of the solutions, the consultant will also offer you formulas for implementing the objectives for which he found solutions. It will present you with the optimal method of implementation, communicate the time estimate of the implementation, estimate the results and related implications.
By closely following (not to be understood micromanaging) the processes changed or implemented by the consultant, the result obtained will be compiled, what needs to happen from that moment on and you will receive the necessary strategies to be applied in the future. You will determine whether a consultant will be needed or whether you will be able to implement them yourself.
